Negotiate bills, handle returns, and cancel subscriptions

One request to hunt savings across bills, returns, and forgotten subscriptions.

This account comes from a Meta employee who put Muse on money-saving duty: negotiating a phone bill, tracking down returns, sending back furniture, and filing an insurance claim. A second user had a forgotten subscription cancelled and refunded.

The employee’s post described Muse negotiating an AT&T bill, identifying Amazon returns, returning IKEA furniture, and filing a vet claim. Separately, another user said Muse found a book subscription they’d forgotten about, cancelled it, and secured a refund.

The employee’s post reported $2,120.95 saved. These are anecdotes, many from Meta’s own #MuseMoneyChallenge and from employees, and the users might have achieved the same savings on their own. Treat the figure as one person’s reported experience, not a typical result.

Safety notes

  • Savings figures in these accounts are self-reported anecdotes, not typical results.
  • The source notes Amazon blocked Muse from placing cart orders, citing its terms of service. Agent actions on retailer sites may be refused.
  • Never let an agent accept a price, agree to a contract change, or submit a cancellation without your review.
  • Check every approval: it should name the exact action, recipient, and amount.

Questions

Can Muse really negotiate my bills?

In this account, an employee reported that it did, but these are anecdotes, many from Meta staff. Your mileage will vary, and you should review any offer before accepting it.

Will Muse cancel subscriptions on its own?

Only with your approval. Ask it to list candidates first, then approve each cancellation individually.
