LiveThe Buttondown connector for Muse
The minimalist newsletter tool, run from chat.
The Buttondown connector handles the indie newsletter stack: list subscribers and emails, add subscribers, and draft emails. If you run a small, personal newsletter on Buttondown, Muse becomes your ops assistant for it.
Drafting is where it shines — talk through the week’s issue and Muse produces a draft in your voice, ready for your edit in Buttondown.
What Muse can do with Buttondown
- List subscribers and past emails
- Add new subscribers to your list
- Draft newsletter issues from your notes
- Report subscriber counts and growth
Try asking
- “How many subscribers do I have now?”
- “Draft this week’s issue from these three links and my notes.”
- “Add sam@example.com to the newsletter.”
Safety notes
- Drafts are drafts — sending happens in Buttondown, by you.
- Subscriber adds confirm the address first.
- This is a community-built connector. Review its permissions before connecting.
How to connect Buttondown
Open the Muse app, go to settings, and find connectors. Link your Buttondown account with the standard sign-in — Muse never sees your password. Once linked, the connector is available across your conversations. You can scope it to read-only or disconnect it entirely at any time from the same screen.
Questions
Can Muse send a Buttondown email directly?
No. It drafts and manages the list; you hit send in Buttondown after reviewing.
Is this good for large lists?
Buttondown itself is built for indie-scale newsletters. The connector fits that same scale, personal lists, not enterprise blasts.
