Muse now sits above ChatGPT on Apple’s free iPhone chart in every country where it is available. Meta AI chief Alexandr Wang amplified the comparison on October 28, quote-posting a chart summary with the caption that Muse’s global tour was going pretty well, and app analytics firm Appfigures’ current rankings back the comparison in all four markets.

The quoted post, from @pablomartimar, put it this way: Muse is live in four countries and ranks above ChatGPT on the iPhone free chart in each one, with Singapore at No. 1 against ChatGPT at No. 6 on day one, Japan at No. 1 against No. 3 six days in, Canada at No. 1 against No. 3, and the US at No. 3 against No. 4. Appfigures’ charts checked on October 28 tell the same story, with one moving part: in Singapore, ChatGPT has since slipped to No. 9, while Muse remains at No. 1.

Appfigures’ free iPhone rankings show the following country-by-country picture. In Japan, Muse from Meta holds No. 1, with MUJI second and ChatGPT third. In Canada, Muse is No. 1, Claude second, and ChatGPT third. In Singapore, Muse is No. 1, ahead of ChatGPT at No. 9 at the time of checking. In the US, Muse is No. 3, one place ahead of ChatGPT at No. 4, behind TikTok Pro and Vinted.

A Four-Market Run, in Order

The rankings track Muse’s rollout. The agent launched in the US on September 8 and reached Canada on September 18. It launched in Japan on October 22, US time, and reached No. 1 on Japan’s App Store the next day. It launched in Singapore on October 28, its fourth market and second in Asia, with local connectors for Shopee, Grab, Agoda, and more rolling out progressively.

Japan is the most durable of the four results so far. Six days after launch, Muse still holds the top spot there, ahead of both MUJI and ChatGPT. Singapore’s No. 1 on day one repeats the Japan pattern in a second Asian market. Canada’s No. 1 shows the same reception in a market Muse entered more than a month ago, while the US result, No. 3 against ChatGPT’s No. 4, is the narrowest of the four.

Why It Matters

A chart ranking captures a moment in time. Free-app charts move hourly, launch curiosity can inflate early positions, and a download is not a retained user. ChatGPT is the incumbent consumer AI app in every one of these markets, and Muse now outranks it in all four at the same time.

Meta’s distribution is doing visible work. Muse launched with Meta’s existing reach behind it, and the rankings suggest that reach is converting into installs faster than OpenAI’s app in each market Muse has entered. The quoted post frames that as a moat for Meta’s consumer AI business. The rankings alone do not prove that claim; they show installs, not habit. Muse still has to hold these positions once the launch windows close, and turn chart position into the regular use that Meta’s subscription and transaction plans depend on.
